This is a must-see. Try to go in the evening, say 5.00pm. It's geting cooler by then, and gradually there are fewer people around. Best to go in at the North gate, as then you will be walking down hill all the way :)

Very hot and very steep. I asked for travelling tips here and no-one had anything useful to say, so I'll give two tips! Arrive by the South entrance, walk downhill and get a taxi back to the top! Also make sure you visit the toilets (free at the north, paid at the south) as there are none inside.

It's better to visit the Ephesus museum first, because it's less crowded, and also you can buy your combo ticket there. In this kind of ticket you have four places to visit- the museum, the ruins, st John 'a basilica and the terrace houses in Ephesus

An impressive archeological site with many significant monuments. It's pity that there are no maps/leaflets to guide you through the site, and the signs are few. Only in Turkish/English. And German in the Celsus library, since the excavation took place under the Austrian Archeological School.

You can see almost everything if you drive by in a car.

You can see almost everything if you drive by in a car. Footing in the ruins is at times precarious and people do slip and fall, stumble on the uneven walkways and fall, or faint and fall, from the intense heat where no shady areas except for the long row of pines at one entrance and an old big fig tree near the other one are. Warning: There is a local carpet weaving company that helps women learning the art of weaving get their work sold, but don't believe the guys making you pay for parking at the entrance of the ruins when they offer you a lift one way in exchange for a 10-minute, quickie tour of this "school" for women and girls. That said, if you are really curious, and lazy enough to not want to walk it there and back, set your phone alarm for 10 minutes and make them stick to it. They will try to sell you something either way. Tell them you will find them tomorrow. If you don't have a book explaining the ruins or are not part of a tour group, you will not know what you're looking at because much of it is not at all well-marked...perhaps you will feel some sort of classical ambience...but more likely, it will just be the intense heat you do feel.

Interior design is impeccable and the layout makes for a relaxing and safe space. We were traveling with young children and felt very well taken care of. The breakfast was delicious. The owner is fluent in English and he gave us a tour of the Ephesus ruins and answered our various questions. He took our family to a great nearby place to eat ice cream.

The staff were very friendly- they offered us homemade wine and fruit in the evening. Location was really good, walkable to downtown Selcuk and Temple of Artemis ruins. A quick drive to Ephesus ruins. Especially liked the art throughout the hotel and in the room. The towel animals were a nice touch!
