Very nice breakfast, good location, and friendly staff
It was really lovely. Calm without being too quiet, with lots of nice roads to walk and look out over the rice fields and gardens. Just enough food/beer vendors spread about to be good :)
Lots of dogs about, and the smell of burning plastic was a pitty.

This area is incredibly beautiful - rice paddies all around as well as much other vegetation and farming. Beautiful wild nature in the mountains. The people are very kind and the local cuisine is delicious. Visiting by scooter or motorcycle would be best as the sights are spread out and it would be a little difficult to visit. You could also do it by car but that would be less fun!

After checking out La Maison de Buoc, I returned to Hanoi and had a flight back to Australia. If I knew that the trip would be so beautiful and memorable, I would stay longer.
Mai Chau this season is very beautiful, even though there are no longer rice fields. People have harvested all the rice since mid-November. But it's okay, I visited Pu waterfall, Mai Hich stream, Thai ethnic villages, climbed Red Rock and Kiapaco Cave.
It can be said that my trip was too short, I wish I could stay longer.

I like solo traveling so the trip to Mai Chau was what I needed after a long time working. It was and is a quiet, peaceful place, not many things to do, but a lot of things to see. I'm glad I came here on a motorcycle so I can go around and see many thing. For example cloud hunting( or cloud sightseeing, waterfalls, rice field under the shade of mountains as the sun coming down. I hope booking.com adds video feature since I record most of my video

Great place with fantastic views of rice paddy fields and surrounding mountains. Not too touristy, lots of culture and very friendly and helpful locals. Short drive from Hanoi. We are at all the local food stalls which allowed us to experience the local dishes all of which were delicious.
Everything!! Specially the host, Vinh, she was amazing, treated us like family since the moment we arrived. The location is superb and the place is beautiful.
Vinh gave us tips for all the attractions around the area and we were lucky to be able to spend some time with her chatting. She is one of the kindest persons we have ever met and she made our stay in Mai Châu one of the best experiences.
We encourage everyone visiting the area to stay in Hakuna Matata, you cannot miss it!!
Fantastic stay. We joined a party because they were celebrating a successful harvest season so half the village was there. To.compensate for the 'disruption' we given a discount for upgrading to a private room and a free dinner. The host is a lovely selfless chap who was a pillar of the community during covid. ALSO the view of the Vietnam countryside and avenue of trees snaking away from the recliner chairs is one of the most perfect views I've seen in my life - not to be missed!
Spacious bedroom and bathroom. Well furnished room, comfortable bed. It's nested in a very peaceful area.
The highlight was definitely the balcony with a view on the rice fields and mountains.
You can borrow bicycles and rent motorbikes.
Breakfast is nice and restaurant has a good range of food for a decent price.
It is from walking distance to Ban Lác, where you will find handcraft shops, cafés and restaurants. It is also close to Mai Châu city.
Good WiFi connexion.
Amazing homestay! We loved everything about our stay, especially the nice bungalow with its balcony, the home cooked breakfast and dinner and the view over the rice field. The owner is extremely friendly and can organize everything (e.g. laundry or motorbike hire). There's a water dispenser where the guests can refill their bottles for free and a fridge with fairly priced beer and sodas. Would highly recommend staying there while in Mai Chau.
Fantastic stay! Our room was spacious with a nice terrace. Cò, the host, was so nice and friendly, easy to talk to (spoke very good English) and very helpful. He gave us a map and some information on what to do in the area.
The homestay is a typical Thai house located in the center of one of the small villages near Mai Chau. Easy to borrow/rent bikes and cycle through the rice fields. Great a/c. Good shower with hot water. Thank you Cò!
The friendliness of staff and the lovely personal contact with the owner of the Homestay. Nha Than went above and beyond to assist us with getting our transfer to and from Mai Chau done.
Location is great, overlooking the rice fields, also close to drop off from the bus; without being bothered by the main street. In the area there is a small restaurant called 3 Sisters, with the best fruit smoothies and juices, and great salads.
We stayed in the family bungalow at Little Mai Chau Homestay. The room was very spacious and had an authentic vibe with a great view of the rice fields and the mountains that made the experience memorable. The hosts and staff were very kind and warm. Gathering with other people staying at the homestay during dinner time made it a even more special to experience a night there. The dinner was neat and delicious too.
Everything!! Huệ and her family are super nice and welcoming. Dinner is really really good and plenty. Hot water in the shower and good bikes for a good price. The rooms are nice and clean. This place is everything you need and more to make your stay in mai chau comfortable and unforgettable. We planned to stay for 2 nights and ended up staying for a week :)
The staff is very friendly even though they don't speak English, we could understand each other with google translate.
The setting is amazing, gorgeous and well maintained garden, and pretty corners to relax everywhere.
It is a bit distant from Mai Chau so make sure you have a scooter or a car. But that just makes it more remote and away from tourist crouds.
Great place, lovely pool + beautiful rooms + good food + location with easy access but still right in a tranquil village where local people live, and not in the tourist “villages” where all the hotels are where you don’t want to be (they are fully composed of hotels, shops for souvenirs, and a few bar/restaurants, but not in a good way)
Mai Chau home was one of the absolute highlights of our trip through Vietnam. Hoi and his family were superhosts, the food was delicious, the location very central in the vallet to take off on hikes and the room had a scenic view of the mountains and rice paddies. I would highly recommend staying for some nights during your Vietnam!
We loved staying at this homestay, the family was so welcoming and made us feel part of the family as soon as we arrived! We felt like they were very passionate to show us what their life in the mai chau valley is like. We loved experiencing it and we wish we had more time to stay here longer. They also cooked us delicious food!
We loved the hotel. The staff were great, very nice, patient and attentive for every request/question we had. We loved the facilities of and around the hotel and took the enjoyable trip with the guide around the close villages. We would definitely come back to Avana Retreat again. It was great. Breakfast is great also!
Mai Chau was one of my favourite places in Vietnam so far, and one of the reasons is this homestay. The dormroom was spacious and thanks to the curtains it felt very private. Food was delicious with very large portions. And the owner is incredibly sweet, always trying to help. I wish I could have stayed longer!
Nice lodge . beautiful surroundings. The village next to it is a bit loud with the karaoke and music. Nir the fault of the resort but it’s sad . The villagers will drive away the tourists.. the Breakfast is good lots of Vietnamese options . In general a very comfortable stay .
Well maintained and beautifully located little hotel resort. Pool at the lakefront. Rooms modern and spacious. Breakfast enough buffet choices and dinner OK to tasty (had whole grilled chicken which was really good. Lunch less to our liking. So hit and miss).
Of all my trip to Vietnam, this was the most memorable moment. Lim is an exceptionnal woman, listening to her life story feels like watching a whole trilogy of movies. She cooks like a 3-star Michelin chef. I want to come back to stay longer.
Everything! Lim is a super host and the Homestay is wonderful. The room was beautiful and spacious and the location is close enough to the busier parts of Mai Chau but still very quiet and relaxing. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you Lim!
One of the most gorgeous hidden property and area in Vietnam, still very untouched by tourists!
