Our Jungle Camp is one of the best hotels in Khao Sok. It is known for its beautiful treehouses and bungalows in the jungle next to the Sok River. When we planned our trip to Khao Sok, it immediately caught our attention, so we knew we had to stay there!
During our 3 days in Khao Sok, we spent 1 night in an earth house in Our Jungle Camp and 1 night in a beautiful treehouse in their sister property, Our Jungle House, right next door.

Our Jungle Camp Location
Our Jungle Camp is located in a quiet part of a rainforest in Khao Sok in Surat Thani Province, only 2 km from the main entrance of Khao Sok National Park.
The resort has a unique location next to the beautiful Sok River.
The property is about 1 kilometer (15-20 minute walk) from Khao Sok Village, the central area with shops, restaurants, bars, and guesthouses. For walks at night, we recommend a headlamp, as it’s quite dark.
Personally, we didn’t feel the need to go to Khao Sok Village, as the resort has its own restaurant and bar on site, and during the day, we were pretty busy with all the activities.
Transport tip: To get to Khao Sok, we booked a bus here.
Types of accommodation
Our Jungle Camp has rooms perfect for all types of travelers, from couples and individual travelers to groups of friends and families.
You can choose between a treehouse, a bungalow, and an earth house, which can host between 2 and 6 guests. Each room/house is unique and has a slightly different design and view. Check availability on your dates.
Tip: Our Jungle Camp, and especially their treehouses, are very popular, so if you want to stay in one, you need to book it in advance!
During our dates, only the earth house was available for our dates, so we stayed there.
Open-air room design
All the rooms have an open-air design, which means they are more open to help with air circulation, especially during humid months. Therefore, it’s not uncommon for bugs and geckos to get inside.
You are in the middle of the jungle, after all! That’s why you should use a mosquito net and possibly a mosquito spray for a good night’s sleep.
Earth house review
The Adobe earth house is beautiful and spacious, inspired by the Spanish colonial design.
Our earth house was nestled along the path, almost hidden in between greenery and behind the pond.
While it was close to the reception and restaurant (only a few minutes’ walk away), it was still very peaceful. Well, except for the frogs from the pond, which were loud at night. 😄 But hey, that is the beauty of Our Jungle Camp—reconnecting with nature.
The room had two single beds, which in our case were put together to make a double bed. Above the bed, we had a mosquito net, which was useful for a good night’s sleep, so no mosquitos bothered us.
We loved the space in the room. There were two chairs with a small table and big open closets (personally our favorite type) with hangers.
The bathroom was simple but had a hot shower, which is all that matters.
All in all, this is a simple and minimal accommodation in Khao Sok in a unique location. Don’t expect luxury, but there will be everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Room amenities
All the rooms usually include:
- Mosquito net
- Mosquito coil (super helpful!)
- Drinking water (refillable)
- Hot shower
- Room fan
- Room safe
- Essential oil soap
- Drying rack
Our Jungle House rooms DON’T INCLUDE:
- AC (but they do have a fan)
- WiFi in the rooms (available at the reception, bar, and restaurant area)
- Kettle
- Fridge
Good to know: Don’t keep any food or snacks in your room, and always close windows and doors if you’re not in the room, as it’s not unusual for monkeys to come! And while it might seem cute, they can make quite a mess in the room. Arijana experienced it first-hand while in Kenya.
And remember, don’t feed the wildlife, including monkeys!
Things we loved about Our Jungle Camp
Comfy beds
For our taste, the beds at Our Jungle Camp earth house were comfortable, and we had a fantastic sleep. However, being completely tired helped with that, too. 😀
Tip: Put the mosquito net over your bed before sleeping!
Beautiful deck
The earth house we stayed at had a beautiful deck with a sitting area, plus a drying rack, which was handy for drying our bathing suits and towels.
No TV or WiFi in rooms
I know this is a weird one, and we can’t believe we’re saying this! 😁
But since the point of staying at Our Jungle Camp is to reconnect with nature and enjoy this unique location, we found no TV or WiFi in the rooms to be a good thing!
While we still had an internet connection through our Thailand eSIM (this one), we didn’t feel the need to be on the phones at all!
Nature sounds
Our favorite part of our stay at Our Jungle Camp was probably the jungle sounds when we went to sleep – the jungle is a loud place. 😅
For example, we had extremely loud frogs in the pond behind our earth house. We loved it, but it does take some getting used to.
Sustainability efforts
We loved seeing the sustainability practices at Our Jungle Camp, such as:
- Filtered water in rooms and common areas (no plastic bottles, and you’re welcome to refill your own bottles)
- Gardens with vegetables and spices
- Employment of local Khao Sok community
- Protection of rainforest on the property
Of course, there’s always room for improvement, but this is already a lot! We love staying at hotels that take care of the environment they’re in.
Restaurant and bar at Our Jungle Camp
Our Jungle Camp has an on-site restaurant where you can order breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu features a variety of local Thai and Western dishes.
They can also adjust the menu to your special dietary requirements. For example, we adjusted some dishes to be vegetarian.
The food at Our Jungle Camp was delicious, and portions were nice – not too small, but also not too big.
However, the prices are slightly higher than those of the restaurants on the main street of Khao Sok Village, and it doesn’t work until late.
While breakfast is not included in the room rate, you can pay for it on the spot. There are a few different options which we chose the night before. The portions were ok for our taste, and you get a little bit of everything (including fruits).
There is also a bar under the restaurant where you can chill towards the end of the day and late into the night with cocktails, mocktails, and other drinks. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to check it out.
Activities
You can organize plenty of activities at Our Jungle Camp, such as cooking classes, hiking, tubing, and many activities for children.
You can also book the Khao Sok highlight – an overnight stay on Cheow Lan Lake with them. To learn more about the lake tour, read our 2 day Khao Sok Lake Tour Review.
Good to know: You can borrow a free dry bag at the reception for water activities. You just pay the deposit, which is returned when you return the bag.
There is a lot to do in the Khao Sok area, so it’s easy to be busy! Read more about all the activities in our Khao Sok Travel Guide.
Beyond guided activities, there are also some free activities that you can do on your own at Our Jungle Camp, such as river tubing, nature walks, bathing, and your own “safari.” There are also quite a few beautiful places to chill in the nature.
We chose the free river tubing option, as we visited in the dry season, so the more adventurous tubing wasn’t possible. We did it on the river in front of the property.
You can also bathe in the river, which we loved. Plus, there’s also a rope at one part so that you can swing into the water.
Another great thing about Our Jungle Camp is the small paths through the rainforest where you can walk on your own. One night, we did our own “safari walk” and saw quite a few animals, like a snake swimming in the river, owls, frogs, and monkeys. Very fun!
Of course, this can’t replace a real night safari in Khao Sok (read more about it here), but it was still impressive that we could do it just by walking around our house!

Final thoughts
We enjoyed our stay at Our Jungle Camp, mostly because it’s in beautiful nature and has an excellent location – still close to the main village part, but not directly there. And we loved the resort grounds! 😍
It gave us an unforgettable stay in a unique location without breaking the bank.
However, we understand that this experience might not be for everyone. This is not a luxurious stay but a place to feel closer to nature and enjoy simplicity.
If you love nature, then this is a perfect place for you.
However, if you’re not a fan of bugs and nature sounds (like frogs, which can be pretty loud at night), then this might not be the best choice for you. In that case, check out our guide to the Best Khao Sok Hotels to find the perfect one.
