Best Outdoor Activities
Hot Air Balloon Ride
Flying above the otherworldly landscape of Cappadocia was an absolute highlight, and it’s definitely not overrated as some might say.
Canyoning
Most fun activity we did in Madeira (beyond hiking)! We rapelled down waterfalls, cliff jumped, walked over boulders, and swam in the river.
Paragliding
We went paragliding for Arijana’s birthday while in Oludeniz and had a blast – it’s likely one of the coolest paragliding spots in the world.
Rock Climbing
Our first rock climbing experience was in Krabi, on the walls by the side of Railay’s Phra Nang Beach, a super cool place to try it for the first time.
Canyoning
We did another canyoning adventure in Da Lat, the central highlands of Vietnam, and while less challenging than the one in Madeira, it was so so fun.
Best Multi-Day Experiences
1 Week Sailing
We sailed around the islands of Croatia & Greece on two separate week-long trips, which we will never forget. This is a must if you love being at sea, enjoy lots of swimming, good food, and visiting beautiful seaside spots.
Ha Long Bay Cruise
A luxurious twist on cruising the Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. We opted for a stylish room on a stunning boat and went around the bay in absolute comfort.
2-Day Tour & Stay in a Floating Bungalow
Staying at the famous Floating Bungalows in Thailand was the perfect way to explore the Khao Sok National Park. We got to swim and kayak at the lake, and see lots of animals.
Best Food
Chiang Mai Night Market
Very touristic, but oh so worth a visit for a wide variety of incredibly tasty food. Yum!
Jonker Street Night Market
This night market in Malaysia really surprised us with what’s on offer, and we had a great time exploring the various (delicious) food on offer.
Best Boat Trips
Luxury Longtail Boat Ride
We opted for a more luxurious boat ride to the stunning Hong Island (nearby Krabi), and it was so worth it.
5 Islands Snorkeling Sunset Cruise
We went on A LOT of boat trips in Thailand, but this one was a definite highlight. We got to swim and snorkel a bunch, enjoy tasty food, chill, and watch the sunset while cruising around the islands.
Kas Kekova Boat Tour
We cruised through some stunning bays in Kas, Turkey, and can highly recommend taking this boat tour. It was a fantastic day out at the sea.
Ang Thong National Marine Park
Going on a boat trip from Koh Samui to Ang Thong was so much fun, and if you can’t afford (money/time) going to places like Similan or Surin Islands, this is a superb alternative.
Trang An
Stunning landscape of limestone peaks and caves accessible by a calm boat ride.
Best Cultural Experiences
Songkran Water Festival
We were fortunate to have the opportunity to experience Songkran, the Thai New Year, also known as the Songkran Water Festival. We celebrated in the local streets of Koh Samui and had a blast.
Meeting Maasai Samburu
Arijana got to meet the Maasai Samburu people and documented her experience staying at one of their villages.
Real Bangkok By Bike
Bangkok is huge! And it’s hard to know which spots to visit to see the real side of it. So we went on a biking tour that does just that, and visits the real Bangkok.
Most Fascinating Attractions and Natural Sights
Derinkuyu Underground City
Walking the tunnels and paths of a hidden underground city beneath the fascinating landscape in Cappadocia was truly something we don’t regret doing.
Pamukkale Travertines
The fascinating natural landscape of Pamukkale in Turkey is a truly incredible place to visit, and there are not many like it in the world.
Ephesus Ancient City
It’s becoming harder and harder to get the chance to walk amongst preserved ancient ruins, so doing that in Ephesus was a highlight of our Turkey trip.
Best Wildlife Experiences
Ethical Elephant Experience
It makes us so happy that we got to visit Vietnam’s first Ethical Elephant Experience in the central highlands. There’s no riding, no bathing, and no up-close selfies – just observing them in the wild, as it should be.
Samburu Special Five
Seeing the special five of Samburu was a highlight of Arijana’s Kenya trip. While these are not the biggest and “most famous” animals of Africa, they were absolutely worth seeing in their natural environment.
Night Safari
Most people don’t expect a safari in Thailand, so this night version in Khao Sok, where we got to see A LOT of animals, was a real surprise.
