Different types of Dubrovnik Passes

The Dubrovnik Pass, previously known as the Dubrovnik Card, is available in three types: the Daily Pass, the Three-Day Pass, and the Seven-Day Pass.

All Dubrovnik Pass options, no matter the validity period, provide free access to the same attractions and museums. But the 3-day and 7-day passes do provide some discounts that the 1-day one does not.

1 day Dubrovnik Pass (24 hours – Daily Pass)

The Daily Dubrovnik Pass is valid for 24 hours from the first use and is ideal for a full day of exploring or day trips to Dubrovnik.

3 days Dubrovnik Pass (72 hours)

The Three-Day Pass allows access to attractions and public transport for three consecutive days, perfect for a multi-day stay in Dubrovnik. The 3-day pass is the second most common pass.

7 days Dubrovnik Pass (168 hours)

The Seven-Day Pass offers the same benefits as the one or three day pass, but is a much better choice for a week-long stay in Dubrovnik, making it easy to spread out exploring attractions throughout your days. So you don’t have to do everything at once.

Duration of the passes

One day of validity means it’s valid for 24 hours from the moment of first use, or 72 hours for the 3-day pass and 168 hours for the 7-day one. This means that if you first use the pass at 9 am on a Monday, it will be valid until 9 am the next day (Tuesday).

Likewise, for the three-day pass, if you activate it at 9 am on a Monday, it will be valid until 9 am on a Thursday.

And for the 7-day pass, if you activate it at 9 am on a Monday, it will be valid until 9 am on a Monday of the following week.

Activation of the passes

It is important to note that the validity period of the pass starts from the first use or activation of the Pass, so plan your visits accordingly to make the most of your Pass.

This also means it’s convenient to buy the pass in advance online.

Which is the best Dubrovnik Pass?

To choose the best pass option for your visit, consider the duration of your stay and the number of attractions you plan to visit.

If you’re unsure, the Three-Day Pass is the most popular choice as it provides a good balance of time and value. And, of course, the one-day pass gets you everything you need for day trips.

Dubrovnik Pass - which Dubrovnik Pass to choose

As an example of using a three-day pass, let’s say you see the main attractions on the first day and then use the included public transport for the other two days when you can visit other spots you didn’t manage on the first day.

Then, considering the price of the seven-day pass, which is only 10 EUR more expensive than the three-day one and only 20 EUR more expensive than the one-day one, it’s a really good deal.

Is the Dubrovnik Pass worth it?

The Dubrovnik Pass is a perfect fit for first-time visitors to Dubrovnik, and we highly recommend it.

However, when deciding whether the Dubrovnik Pass is worth it, you should evaluate your itinerary, the attractions you plan to visit, and the duration of your stay.

To determine if the Dubrovnik Pass is worth it, we recommend comparing the total cost of individual attraction tickets with the pass’s cost and considering its convenience and added benefits.

Dubrovnik Pass - Dubrovnik Pass Review - Dubrovnik Card - Is Dubrovnik Pass worth it

On your first visit to the city, you will likely want to see the most expensive attractions, like the City Walls, which is already the same price as the Dubrovnik Pass. So you might as well just buy the pass and also get many other things included.

For us, there was no question about it: Dubrovnik Pass saved us a nice chunk of money. A penny saved is a penny earned, so we ate more ice cream rather than spend the money on tickets.

Breaking down the cost of individual tickets vs pass inclusions

To assess the value of the Dubrovnik Pass, it’s important to compare the total cost of individual attraction tickets with the cost of the pass.

So, let’s go ahead and do just that!

For example, if the City Walls tickets cost €35 and the 1-day Dubrovnik Pass is also priced at €35, the pass gives a lot more value to most travelers, as it provides additional free admission to other attractions, PLUS free bus rides and discounts in many restaurants.

And if you want to see City Walls and some of the museums, you can get the 20 EUR ticket that includes 10 of them, but that already brings the price to 55 EUR. And with the 35 EUR Dubrovnik Pass, you get it all.

Good to know: If you don’t plan on walking the city walls and only want to see some museums, the 20 EUR Museums and Galleries ticket, which gives you access to 10 museums, is the best choice.

Tips for maximizing the value of your pass

  1. Start with top attractions such as the Dubrovnik City Walls, the Rector’s Palace, and the Maritime Museum.
  2. If you’re staying outside of Old Town, take the free bus rides to get around the city of Dubrovnik conveniently.
  3. Take advantage of the discounts offered at various cultural and heritage sites.
  4. Eat in one of the many restaurants where the pass offers a 10% discount.
  5. If you’re visiting during the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, enjoy discounted tickets.

Experience Dubrovnik from a different perspective and escape the heat on a sea kayaking excursion. Discover nearby attractions, admire the grandeur of Dubrovnik’s City Walls, and enjoy breathtaking views alongside your knowledgeable guide.

Tips for families with children

With the Dubrovnik Pass, the adult ticket gives your children up to the age of 7 the same benefits. So you only need to buy it for children older than 7.

However, we recommend checking which attractions you intend to visit have free entry or discounted prices for children. It might turn out that simply paying for the discounted tickets is a better choice.

For example, the City Walls ticket for children under 18 is only 15 EUR. So, if you only plan to visit City Walls, it’s better to buy the discounted ticket for your children between 7 and 18 instead of the pass.

Where to buy the Dubrovnik Pass

You can buy the Dubrovnik Pass online on the official website, www.dubrovnikpass.com, and we recommend strictly doing so. If you buy it on another website or travel platform, you will likely pay upwards of 30% more for the pass.

The best place to purchase your Dubrovnik Pass in the city is at the City of Dubrovnik Tourist Board (Brsalje 5), just outside Pile Gate, or at the Lapad or Gruž offices.

Conclusion and our personal experience

We had a great experience exploring Dubrovnik with the Dubrovnik Pass.

To be honest, if you’re interested in seeing any of the main attractions, the Dubrovnik Pass offers one of the best money-saving ways to explore a city as popular as Dubrovnik we have ever seen. If you compare it to some other city passes, it’s unlikely that you could find a similar deal.

We highly recommend it to any traveler to Dubrovnik, from day-trippers to week-long trips. Get the pass and use the money you saved on one or two more meals or some extra ice cream. 🙂
